REVIEW: Library Cafe

Many may know the Library Cafe as one of the more popular spots to knock back a few cocktails in Farmingdale. You know, the place you typically end up strolling into after your night started at Croxley's Ale House to watch a sports game, in which you then found yourself at the Nutty Irishman, and before you know it, you are ending your night in the Library Cafe? It's happened to all of us. Aside from the copious amount of drink options though, they have a sizable pub fare-focused menu that incorporates everything from melty, cheesy French onion soup, to buffalo chicken empanadas, straight through to marinated grilled skirt steak.

While dining in the sophisticated, yet casual, atmosphere, be sure to accompany whatever you choose to eat with a specialty drink. One cocktail that's got the attention of most patrons and managed to get ours as well, is "Nicholas Sparks': The Notebook". It's a combination of mango vodka, Malibu coconut, Chambord, pineapple juice, and a splash of grenadine. In the warmer months, this is the go-to drink... and being that summer is right around the corner, well, you can thank us now for the recommendation. If you're looking for something a little more masculine, sissy boy, go with "Nelson Demille's: Gold Coast" - Jose Cuervo Silver and Cointreau with a splash of sour mix and topped off with Grand Marnier.

Now that we've got the drink situation squared away, it's time to focus on the food. Other than the aforementioned fare, the mini reubens are a must-order appetizer. A combination of corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and cocktail rye, all brought together in a beautiful melody of deep-fried goodness. For entree, you're going to want one of their burgers, all of which are made with Pat LaFreida premium ground beef. Not to mention as an added bonus, waffles fries come as a side dish with the burgers and sandwiches... and who doesn't love waffles fries? If you're not looking to get down and dirty with finger foods, then Chicken Brushcetta could be the perfect option for you. A grouping of pan-fried (or grilled) chicken cutlets, topped with asiago cheese and Kalamata olive bruschetta with arugula and balsamic dressing. It's superb (and a healthier alternative if you go with the grilled chicken).

So whether you're a night owl pounding brews into the late night or if you're out with your date for a casual night out, the Library Cafe serves all purposes.
