Celebrity Chef Tom Colicchio Opens Small Batch

Celebrity chef Tom Colicchio splashes on to the Long Island restaurant scene this week with his newest creation, Small Batch, at the Roosevelt Field mall.
The 180-seat restaurant is focused on locally sourced cuisine. Dine in a farmhouse style space and peak into the open kitchen where the wood-fire grill produces much of the American fare menu. The menu showcases the best of Long Island’s bounty from produce and seafood to meats and dairy. “Small Batch will go beyond being a great dining destination. Small batch will connect with and support the long island food community; we will be the table where purveyors, cooks, and guests can come together to celebrate a way of doing business that will create better food for all of us” states Tom Colicchio.
Intriguing dishes on the menu include: Whipped ricotta toast with dandelion greens, toasted hazelnuts & truffle honey; Long Island duck with honeynut squash, swiss chard, fig syrup & black garlic; Smoked short rib with pickled cherry peppers & polenta; Honeynut squash agnolotti with brown butter & sage; and Eggplant "parmesan" with burrata. The beverage program also has a local flavor with concoctions such as the Garden City Negroni with gin, fino sherry, white vermouth and Suze and the Pine Barrens with rum, stone pine, grapefruit, rosemary, agave. Look for Long Island wine selections including Bedell Cellars, Macari and Channing Daughters. Dessert creations are being overseen by famed pastry chef Claudia Fleming of North Fork Table. Small Batch is open initially for dinner daily starting at 5:30 p.m. and will eventually open for lunch and brunch.
