Prost, It's Oktoberfest!

Even though Oktoberfest in Germany is canceled this year, you can still raise a toast to the annual Bavarian celebration of food and BEER!

These restaurants on Long Island are offering some traditional German dishes and German beer. PROST!

Plattduetsche Park - Franklin Square

Plattduetsche Park has been Long Island's top destination for traditional German specialties for over 100 years. So what better place to celebrate the Bavarian holiday! If the weather cooperates, the Biergarten is open Wednesday through Sunday, first come first serve. If you prefer to celebrate in the comfort of your own home, takeout is also available. Look for traditional dishes such as Hungarian goulash soup, Bavarian wurst platter, Sauerbraten, Wiener schnitzel and more! Of course traditional Oktoberfest beers will be available to accompany your German meal.

Rowdy Hall - East Hampton

Neighborhood pub Rowdy Hall will celebrate Oktoberfest with a special Fester Preis (prix fixe) featuring traditional German dishes. The Fester Preis ($27) includes two courses and changes weekly throughout Oktoberfest and will be available for dine in or takeout. The Fest Preis menu specials include Wienerschnitzel with herbed spaetzle and gold beets; Knockwurst, Bratwurst and Bockwurst with German potato salad, sauerkraut & mustard; and Kassler Rippchen with potato pancake and warm applesauce. The giant Bavarian pretzel with mustard will also be available a la carte as well as Oktoberfest beer specials including Warsteiner Premium Pilsner, Spaten Oktoberfest and Paulaner Hefe-Weizen for $7 a pint. Growlers to-go are also available for $20.

The Oak Chalet Restaurant - Bellmore

The Oak Chalet Restaurant, which has been serving German specialties for over 30 years, will honor Oktoberfest with their German specialties along with background music from accordionist Frank Rapuano. Every Thursday September 24th through October 29th from 6 to 9 p.m., enjoy the traditional German sounds alongside your meal. Menu highlights include: Wiener roast braten, Sauerbraten, Kassler Rippchen, Goulash with Spaetzle, Bratwurst and more. And compliment your meal with traditional German brew, of course! Reservations are required and no parties larger than 10.

Townline BBQ - Sagaponack

Celebrate Oktoberfest BBQ style at Townline BBQ. German-style BBQ specials will be available September 19 through October 4, dor dine in or takeout. SMoked bratwurst with German potato salad and smoked onions ($18.50) will be available September 19 through 23. Smoked pork chop choucroute with sauerkraut, potatoes, onions, bacon and whole grain mustard BBQ sauce ($19.50) will be available September 24 through 30, and Haxen (smoked pork shank) with maple sweet potatoes ($19) will be available October 1 through 4. As well the giant Bavarian pretzel will be available for $10 throughout Oktoberfest. Bar specials includig growlers of Von Trapp Oktoberfest and Schflay Pumpkin Ale will be offered for $25 and a curated 4 pack of Oktoberfest beers for $30 will also be available.
