Halloween weekend is here, and Long Island restaurants are getting into the spirit with festive cocktails, special menus, costume contests and plenty of reasons to get together. But the celebrations don't end when the costumes come off. Día de los Muertos, observed November 1 and 2, brings its own traditions of honoring loved ones through food, music and community.
From Halloween-inspired cocktails and multi-course dinners to traditional Mexican dishes and live mariachi music, here are four Long Island restaurants worth checking out.

For a Halloween celebration with a little more dinner and a little less dancing, Bistro 72 in Riverhead is serving up a wickedly delicious evening. Located inside Hotel Indigo East End, the restaurant is hosting One Wicked Night, a special four-course Halloween pairing dinner on October 30 and 31 at 6 p.m. Each course is paired with a wine, beer or specialty cocktail, bringing together seasonal flavors and a festive dining experience.
The menu begins with a choice of roasted beet salad or classic Caesar salad, followed by wild mushroom ravioli or house-made bolognese. For the main course, guests can choose between pan-roasted herb chicken and pan-seared salmon, before finishing with triple chocolate layer cake. A full vegan menu is also available. Priced at $72 per person, plus tax and gratuity, the dinner offers a different way to celebrate Halloween. Guests looking to make a full night of it can also take advantage of an overnight package that includes dinner for two, accommodations and a special in-room surprise.
Reservations are required, making this one worth booking before the weekend gets away.

The festivities continue Sunday, November 1, with Día de los Muertos celebrations featuring a live DJ, Modelo giveaways and samples, plus face painting at the Amityville location.
